New Year's Resolutions for the Community Foundation of Western Nevada
2017 has been a terrific year for giving and community impact. On behalf of the Board and staff members at the Community Foundation, thank you for all you have given and done.
As I look forward to 2018 here are my Community Foundation resolutions, which are a glimpse into the future. I am confident we will keep most of these resolutions (but less sure about some personal resolutions I listed at the bottom.) Happy New Year!
- Thyself and thy family shall be healthy in the face of caregiver challenges – In 2018 our Caregiver Guidebook will be distributed through more than 400 locations, including a Spanish language version. The washoecaregivers.org resource directory website will be marketed and people’s lives will be improved.
- Thy gifts shall be plentiful and shall multiply. As the Community Foundation grows, our investment returns play a more important part in impacting the community. A 10% return means $8 million income that can be distributed in grants and scholarships. I hope this resolution comes true!
- Herewith shall all communities in northern Nevada benefit by Community Foundation support – In 2018 we continue to help rural communities set up their own community foundations under our umbrella. Affordable and effective, we are resolute in our determination to help.
- Thou shalt not rip thy neighbor off – This one sounds like a commandment, but in fact, in 2018 the Community Foundation will undertake our next initiative, to help address and curb financial abuse. Expect great things from this community-wide effort. If you would like to learn more or get involved, please call.
