Over the past decade, more than 1,800 people in our community have taken advantage of the free estate planning classes offered in spring and again in fall through a collaboration of the Community Foundation of Western Nevada, KNPB Channel 5, a dozen local charities along with the Washoe County Library System.
Nobody is trying to sell you anything within this series.
These classes are truly a community service, and the attendees evaluate the classes with five stars. Not only do you learn from top professionals who volunteer their time to teach these classes, but you get a workbook and materials that help you organize your financial and estate records, to save you time and money when you put together your plan with your attorney. The classes introduce ideas, methods, and strategies to you that are not well known or understood and do so in a safe environment.

The classes begin on March 27th and run for eight weeks.
Every Wednesday the same class will be offered two times, both held at the Sierra View Library (Old Town Mall), 4001 Virginia Street in Reno. The 90-minute classes begin at 110:30 am and at 1:30 pm. Get there early because the classes have been full the last few years.

Expert presenters donate their time and expertise and meet the fiduciary standard for always putting your interests first. They are attorneys Procter Hug IV, Joe Gorman, Jason Morris, Ryan Earl, Mark Dreschler, Luke Welmerink, and John Smith. Thanks also go to Kurt Mische who moderates the series each week. Classes cover the estate planning, wills, probate and trusts, responsibilities of fiduciaries, executors and successor trustees, gift, estate, and transfer taxes, powers of attorney, health care directives, Medicaid, estate planning for digital assets, and planned giving. All participants receive detailed information throughout the class including a binder and personal planning guides to keep it all organized.
