young people pile their hands together in unity

We are thrilled to announce the latest recipients of the YES Fund grants! The YES Fund, courtesy of Washoe County, supports service projects that make a positive community impact. These young leaders have shown exceptional dedication and creativity in their projects, each aiming to make a significant impact in our community. Here’s a closer look at the incredible initiatives they are spearheading:

"Kids Can with Narcan"
Fiona, 8 -  Huffaker Elementary School

Fiona’s project, "Kids Can with Narcan," focuses on distributing Narcan and raising awareness about substance use prevention. With a vision to educate and equip her peers and community members, Fiona is making strides in the fight against substance abuse. Her initiative not only provides life-saving tools but also fosters a deeper understanding of substance use prevention, emphasizing the importance of community health and safety.

"Sparks Heritage Museum Digitization"
Lea, 23 - University of Nevada, Reno

Lea is dedicated to preserving and making history accessible through her project, "Sparks Heritage Museum Digitization." By increasing digital access to the museum’s collections, Lea is ensuring that everyone in the community can explore and learn from the rich history preserved at the Sparks Heritage Museum. Her work is bridging the gap between the past and the present, promoting an inclusive approach to historical education.

"Leading with Strength"
Sophie, 16 - Sage Ridge School

Sophie’s project, "Leading with Strength," empowers upper-grade girls with leadership skills, community service opportunities, and STEM engagement. Recognizing the importance of fostering leadership and empowerment in young women, Sophie is creating a platform for girls to develop essential skills and make meaningful contributions to their communities. Her initiative is a beacon of inspiration, encouraging young women to lead with confidence and purpose.

The YES Fund is made possible by Washoe County to empower the next generation of leaders to make a tangible difference in our community. We are immensely proud of Fiona, Lea, and Sophie for their dedication and hard work. Their projects exemplify the spirit of the YES Fund.
