President and CEO[/caption] Our region’s first ever Philanthropy Leaders’ Summit will be held on September 9th, 8am-11:30 am, at the Nevada Museum of Art. Hosted by Moonridge Group, the event will inspire, inform, and connect philanthropists in a way that allows attendees the opportunity to increase their philanthropic impact. The Summit’s theme is “Be The Change”, and accordingly, the program will kick-off with a Youth Philanthropy Panel including a young woman named Ming Li Wu. Ming Li was a member of the Community Foundations High School Giving Circle. She embraces philanthropy at an early age. Ming Li and other youth will share their stories and what they have learned from their charitable work. Local funders and philanthropists will discuss best practices, giving trends, and how to maximize the return on investment. In addition to the Community Foundation, the event is sponsored by Newmont, NV Energy, City National Bank, Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, The Glenn Group, Transforming Youth Recovery, Staci & Mike Alonso, and Philanthropy Southwest. Advisory Committee Members for the Reno event include: Chris Askin, Community Foundation of Western Nevada; Bob Armstrong, McDonald Carano Wilson, LLP; Staci Columbo-Alonso, Philanthropist; Perry DiLoreto, Philanthropist; Kathleen Foley, Teacher; Valerie Glenn, The Glenn Group; Mark Knobel, McDonald Carano Wilson, LLP; Stacie Mathewson, Stacie Mathewson Foundation; Mark McVeigh, City National Bank; Kristi Overgaard, SWITCH; Jennifer Satre, Philanthropist; Mary Simmons, NV Energy; Caryn Swobe, Swobe Technologies; Virginia Valentine, Nevada Resort Association; David Walker, Nevada Museum of Art; and Chrissy Menicucci.
