Chris Askin is the former President/CEO of the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada. From 2000 to early 2022, Chris Askin was the executive leader of the region's most comprehensive community foundation.
Under Chris' leadership, the Community Foundation assets grew from $576,000 in June 2000 to $120 million in 2019, while distributing more than $120 million in grants. As a certified specialist in planned giving, he worked with donors and professional advisors on complex current and estate gift arrangements, often involving complex or unusual gift assets. More than $150 million in bequest arrangements from 100+ families are in place to benefit the community as Legacy funds. The Community Foundation administrative expenses are about 1% with a balanced budget annually, making the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada one of the most efficiently operated charities in the country. The Community Foundation has met COF National Standards since 2007.
