What is the Northern Nevada Endowment?
The Northern Nevada Endowment, formerly the Community Fund, is the region’s first community-wide enduring charitable fund for all of us to nurture and build.
Every contribution will grow, every gift is meaningful, and every grant addresses a pressing need.
Together, your gift, when combined over time with your neighbors’ and friends’ gifts, will grow to be a great philanthropic resource to meet pressing community needs. During tough times, the Community Endowment can be used to address unforeseen and critical issues, like COVID-19 relief. During good times, Northern Nevada Endowment grants can support area nonprofits’ innovative and valuable services. Created, invested, and managed by the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada, the Community Endowment serves as an unending resource for good for our region, now totaling more than $5.2 million. The fund will continue to grow each year - forever.

The Community Fund Advisory Committee
An advisory committee is formed annually to decide how funds are distributed. The advisory committee is comprised of current board members, staff, and community leaders representing diverse perspectives and geographic reach. Community representatives will change annually.
Why give?
We cannot know what challenges our grandchildren will face. We do know that a gift to the Northern Nevada Endowment will always be relevant, important to our region, and most of all, available when needed. Through the Northern Nevada Endowment, we are able to invest in thoughtful solutions to a variety of community challenges, ensuring the strength and vibrancy of Northern Nevada.
2024 Northern Nevada Endowment Grants Increased Access to Mental Health
The 2024 Community Foundation of Northern Nevada Endowment Fund grant cycle extended our focus on increasing access to mental health through the placement of mental health practitioner interns at local nonprofits.
This partnership with the University of Nevada, Reno's Behavioral Health Collaborative aligns with the Foundation’s strategic priority of improving access to mental health care, a persistently, wide-spread need in our community.

What does the Northern Nevada Endowment Fund Support?

- At least 10% is reserved to aid in national and regional natural disasters, emergencies, or other crises annually
- Northern Nevada Endowment grants may not be used for Community Foundation overhead costs
